What is a “Shamanic Drum” workshop?
co-organized with La Tribu
Symbolism
In the shamanic symbolism, the drum is the beating of the heart whose sound makes us vibrate with the heart of the cosmos. It is the language that unites the Father Heaven to the Mother Earth and the means of transport by which the shaman moves in the different worlds. The beating of the drum alters the ordinary state of consciousness and produces a trance delivering useful messages for our personal development.
The construction of the drum is taught in a traditional way and includes the material necessary for its creation: wild deer skin, wooden hoop, mallet.
The manufacturing process on the first day requires dedication and patience. The different stages take time and teach us to slow down, to breathe, to be in the present moment, while making ourselves available to each other.
Each drum is unique because it will carry the story that gave it life.
On the second day we organize a ceremony to drum and help restore balance and harmony of body, soul and spirit.
Sweat Lodge
We use the drum and the techniques related to it in the training offered at La Tribu. Many of the therapists we train offer this tool in their accompaniments.
Temazcal or Sweat Lodge, is an Amerindian shamanic ritual of purification, rebirth and healing. It is considered one of the most powerful healing techniques in the Native American tradition. Through hot steam, singing and prayers, the Temazcal ritual leads participants to an ecstatic and mystical experience. It celebrates the connection to Mother Earth and the four elements: air, fire, water and earth, associated with the mental, energetic, emotional and physical planes.

About the trainers and organizers
Luigi Jannarone
My name is Luigi Jannarone, I was born in Milan, Italy, and I am a sociologist and a gestalt-oriented counselor, scholar and practitioner of Indian-American shamanism. In the early 1990s I began my training by studying psychodynamics and falling in love with the works of Carlos Castaneda, Victor Sanchez and other authors.
I have been to Peru and Mexico several times, traveling also to Bolivia and the United States, and have come to know the teachings of the elders of the Indian-American tradition by studying and practicing in those places with different shamans and curanderos. Since 2001 I have traveled regularly to Peru, where I am initiated by the Andean Q’eros people as “Pampamissaioq” (Priest of the Earth).
About La Tribu
La Tribu works to form a circle of people in research. Curious and altruistic, their gaze is drawn beyond the boundaries of the known to states of expanded consciousness (ECE). La Tribu is limited only by a starry sky above our heads, with our feet firmly planted on the ground.
La Tribu aims to deploy new clinical, relational and creative support approaches combining ancestral knowledge as well as the contributions of current practices, in order to promote access
